ABOUT ME
Marcello Cuadra is a member of the KPLC news team in Lake Charles, Louisiana, as a morning anchor and MMJ reporter for KPLC-TV / FOX29. In December 2020, Marcello graduated from the University of Florida having majored in Telecommunication News with a concentration in Business.
Before transferring to UF, Marcello attended Miami Dade College, where he began his passion for journalism. While at MDC, Marcello wrote for the college newspaper, The Reporter, and decided he had found his future career. He transferred to UF in 2019 and joined WUFT News, where he went on to write, edit, and produce his packages to air on television. Marcello was able to showcase his Hispanic heritage while working for Noticias WUFT and participating in Telemundo University, learning how to effectively bring the news to Spanish speaking audiences throughout the area. He also worked for NPR’s radio show “All Things Considered,” broadcasting current events and breaking headlines over WUFT 89.1/90.1 FM.

What's Poppin' and NAHJ Gator Chapter
The time has changed in the 21st century where social media is considered to be the most important activity that helps to gain more experience. Seeing how much Instagram has grown not only as a platform but as a way for people to gain income, I decided to start managing accounts.
In the process, I learned so much about planning, numbers, and how to engage with a generation that is always on the move with their cell phones in tow.
WHAT'S POPPIN'
What's Poppin' is a pop culture podcast by Carla Kakouris and Victoria Someillan. The girls talk about pop culture news, the TV shows, movies and songs everyone’s talking about, and the craziness that goes on in their everyday lives. I joined What's Poppin' as its Social Media Director back in January 2019, since then, i have grown its platform by 50%!
NAHJ GATOR CHAPTER
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬 is dedicated to the recognition and professional advancement of Hispanics in the news industry. I joined the team back in 2019 as one of two Social Media Managers for the Organization. Since my start in NAHJ, I have increased the follower county by 500!
